When you serve people at your highest level, when you’re genuine, when you try and connect with people, genuinely for, for the sake of connection, even though you might have a business, motive behind it, but genuinely get to know people for who they are, it’s amazing what relationships you can actually bring to your life. And it’s amazing what, in that what comes into your life when you’re actually serving and genuinely connecting with people.

Now, a couple of months ago, as I was growing my business, I was prospecting and I was on LinkedIn at the time to grow my network. One of the things I used to do is ask people about their life, their challenges, et cetera. And I came across a gentleman who I asked a question to and then we got talking. He sent me a reply and he opened up to me and I was like, okay, we’re talking. And then we decided to meet up for coffee. I could have met with him that morning. Now, he insisted that he will come and see me and I said, “Look, you’re about 50 kilometres away. Let’s just meet in the afternoon. I’ll be able to see you and we’ll make it work.” He’s like, “I’ll come and see you.” This is really nice of him. Now in the meantime, I started doing some research. I started stalking him, Facebook, Google, his profile on LinkedIn, et cetera. And I saw that this guy was actually a very successful man. And I’m thinking, okay, he’s written a book. He’s a high-end business coach. And I’m like, okay, this guy’s saying, “I’m quite successful.” We’ll see what happens, what comes of it. He came and he saw me and he drives all, most probably an hour, probably more than an hour to get there. And he came to see me. We spent a good two hours talking, and he gave me so many gold nuggets. Those I would implement in my business directly and made a massive, massive change in my life and in my business. And I sit down looking at him, I smile, I ask him a question, “Why are you here?” He responds, “I like to give. And then I receive back from the world, from the universe, from God for whatever, you know, I like to give a life will give back to me.” And I was like, okay, that’s a pretty interesting view of life. And then, when I implemented some of the stuff that he taught me and made a great big difference in my business now and then I had the opportunity and I had the honour to have lunch with him recently and journey slash we’re talking and saw about the different people that he knows and some about some of the things that he’s launching.

Very, very, exciting stuff, very inspirational stuff. But he told me one thing that really, really stuck out and he said, he goes off to say many people who get to a point where they become successful and then the bank balance starts to grow, they start to focus on the bank balance and they forget the good that they are doing. They forget their purpose. They forget serving people at their highest level. And he tells me, when people start to demise, this is the beginning of the anchor for people. When they start to do that, they race to the top and then they forget who got them there. They forget the people that got them there. They forget their clients. They forget their fan base and forget all that. Now, whether he was saying the message directly to me or not, the message I got is serve people at your highest level.

Make sure you do not forget your purpose. Why are you doing what you’re doing? If you are in a service-based organization, industry, or if you’re serving your customers, you’re serving your client base for a reason. So regardless of how successful you become, always remember that you are there because of the people they gave you that opportunity. It’s your customers, it’s your fan base, it’s your followers. Whatever it is, no matter how successful you become in life, make sure you are always remembering who got you to where you are. And that was the message that I got. So I want to share that with you guys or not a lot of us on a journey where you know, a lot of my friends on Facebook are very high achievers and where they’re smashing goals and we want to get better and better, we want to succeed and for may are got that message that success is remembering where you come from and always living on your purpose and living with purpose. With that said, I’m a big fan of the family. I’m a big believer that family is the definition of success also. So that’s my message tonight. And remember, your only limitation is the one that you set up in your own mind.
